Services for Detlef Wiese, 84, of Vail, lifelong resident of Crawford County, were held May 21 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. The Rev. Frank Mease officiated and burial was in the Manning Cemetery. Mr. Wiese died May 19, 1966, at the Wide View Nursing Home in Paullina after a year's illness.
Pallbearers at the rites were Elmer Lohman, Howard Linberg, John Koch, Jr., Leroy Mc-Caffrey, Vernon Ossenkop, and Wayne Buck.
Mr. Wiese was born October 10, 1881, in Hayes Township, Crawford County, a son of Wilhelm and Margaretha (Erps) Wiese.
His marriage to Alma Kruetzfeldt took place February 5, 1905.
They farmed near Manning until 1926, and then near Vail until retiring and moving into Vail in 1947. He was a member of the Vail Presbyterian Church and a 65-year member of the Hayes Township Schuetzen Verein.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Hugo (Adelaid) Schrum, Manning; Mrs. Lloyd (Viola) Dozark and Mrs. Lester (Vera) Morton, Vail; and Mrs. Ila Crampton, Omaha; ten sons, Leslie, Manning; George, Charter Oak; Leonard, Omaha; Clarence, Denison; Emil, Arcadia; Wilmer, Raymond, Elmer, Alvin, and Donald, Vail; 24 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; a brother, William Wiese, Knoxville; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Kruetzfeldt, Larrabee, Iowa.
Preceding him in death were three grandchildren, and eight brothers and sisters.
