Funeral services for Detlef Frederick Vinke, 80, were held Saturday, March 23, at the Ohde Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Rev. Carl Sinning of the Presbyterian Church officiating.

Ray Pratt was soloist; Mrs. Bonita Hagedorn, organist. Burial was made in the Manning Cemetery, with nephews as pallbearers.

Son of Henry and Lena Vinke, he was born November 21, 1882, in Hayes Township, Crawford County. He was married to Metha Joachimsen February 28, 1907. The couple farmed near Manning and moved here in 1944. Mrs. Vinke died on November 21, 1956.

Mr. Vinke lived alone until two month ago, when he entered Manning, General Hospital, where he died Wednesday morning, March 20, 1963.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a son, Ralph, a grandchild, four brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by four children: Delbert of Manning, Averill of Audubon, Mrs. Melvin (LuVerne) Killeen, of Ringsted, Mrs. Lois Drake of Watertown, South Dakota; 22 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, also one sister, Mrs. Julia Thiedeman of Manning.
