The rite of Christian burial of Deloris A. Odendahl was celebrated Monday,
April 25, 1983, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Manning, Iowa. The
Reverend Monsignor Dean Walker was celebrant. Interment was in Sacred Heart
Cemetery at Manning with Kenny Sturm, Don Irlbeck, Mark Bluml, Dan Hinners,
John Rohe and Lynn Stork as casketbearers. Rosaries were prayed Saturday
evening, April 23, 1983, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 24, at 3, 7:30 and 8:30
p.m. at Ohde Funeral Home, Manning, Iowa.
Deloris, daughter of Joseph and Frances Wittrock Bluml, was born January 20, 1922, near Templeton, Iowa. Soon thereafter the family moved to the Halbur, Iowa area where Deloris attended St. Augustine School.
On May 19, 1942, Deloris was united in marriage with Louis Odendahl. This union was blessed with four sons.
Deloris and Louis farmed southeast of Carroll for two years, and then moved to the Manning area where they have farmed ever since. Deloris was employed by the L.R. Nelson Company in Manning.
She died suddenly while vacationing, on April 21, 1983, at
Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne, Wyoming, at the age of 61 years and 3 months.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and a granddaughter, Kaelyn, on November 21, 1982.
Deloris is survived by her husband, Louis; by her four sons, Ron and wife Edna, Gary and wife Karen, Joe and wife Sharon, and Lynn, all of Manning; by nine grandchildren, Michelle, Stacie, Paul, Steven, Angie, Laurie, Julie, Heather and Nicole; by six brothers, Jerome Bluml of Manning, Elmer Bluml, Carroll, Larry Bluml, Carroll, Glen Bluml, Spencer, Don Bluml, Dubuque, and Jim Bluml, Carson, Iowa; by five sisters, Mrs. Sylvester (Ardella) Irlbeck of Templeton, Mrs. Albert (Ardith) Sturm, Manning, Mrs. Wayne (Esther) Rohe, Templeton, Mrs. Vernon (Margaret) Hinners, Manning, Mrs. Loris (Charlene) Stork, Glidden; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Deloris was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manning, of the Altar and Rosary Society, the Parish Choir. She was active in the women's bowling leagues in Manning.
