D. Summerville Taken By Death
David John Summerville, former Manning resident, died at Madison, Wisconsin, August 15, 1948, according to a message received by the Ohde Funeral home this morning.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home here, with the Rev. Harlan Kruse, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery beside his wife, the former Lou Patton, who died three years ago.

Mr. Summerville was connected with the Wisconsin highway commission.

He has a brother, Will, of Manning. His sisters are Mrs. George Carsten, Omaha, Mrs. Laura Nellis, and Mrs. Elizabeth Quantz.

His parents, Robert and Mary (Jenkins) Summerville, and brother, Robert, preceded him in death.


Final Rites Held for David J. Summerville
Funeral services for David John Summerville, 74, former Manning resident, were held from the Manning Funeral Home August 19, 1948, following services at Madison, Wisconsin, at 10 a.m. August 18.

Mr. Summerville was born in Illinois. He came to Iowa in 1878 with his parents, Robert and Mary (Jenkins) Summerville. He made his home in Manning for many years, where he attended Manning Schools. He was in the employ of the Wisconsin Highway Commission at Ladysmith and about six years ago moved to Madison.

He passed away at Madison following an illness of two years, August 15, 1948.

Mr. Summerville was a member of the First Congregational Church at Madison and the Knights of Pythias.

He was married to Lulu Patton at Manning, September, 7,1899. Mrs. Summerville died about three years ago. Survivors include three sisters and a brother: Mrs. Elizabeth Quantz, Mrs. Emma Carstens, Mrs. Laura Nellis, and William E. Summerville.

The Rev. Harlan Kruse of the Presbyterian Church conducted the services and Clifford M. Johnson sang.
