Darlene Porsch

Graveside funeral services for Darlene Porsch were held Saturday, January 5, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the Manning Cemetery in Manning, Iowa. Reverend Patrick R. Sparling of Manning Zion Lutheran Church officiated. Casketbearers were Ken Jensen, Russ Mohr, Duane Monson, Franklin Mohr, LeRoy Rowedder, and Dave Grundmeier. Honorary Casketbearers were Kirsten Woyte, Adam Porsch, Judson Greif, Clinton Greif, and Alexandra Greif.

Darlene Anna, daughter of Albert and Elsie (Klindt) Stoelk, was born November 11, 1922, at Manning, Iowa. She grew up in Manning and attended school there.

On September 21, 1947, Darlene was united in marriage with Otto Porsch at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Four children were born to this union. Darlene worked as a bookkeeper in her husband's business following their marriage. The family lived in Manning until 1963 when they moved to Perry for ten years. Then they lived in Granger from 1973 until 1991. Her husband died on February 2, 1982 and in 1991 she moved to Colorado Springs, CO to be near her son Lynn. In 1997 she moved to Chapel Hill, NC to be near her daughter.

Darlene was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary in Manning. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and crafting. Most important to her was her family.

When her health began to fail in 2001, Darlene returned to Colorado Springs. She died at the Lifecare Nursing Facility in Colorado Springs on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 15 days.

Preceding her in death are her husband; stillborn son Larry in 1963; three brothers: Leon Stoelk in WW II: Donald Stoelk and Merle Stoelk and sister Jaenice Popp.

Darlene is survived by her three children: Lynn Porsch and wife Karen of Colorado Springs; Lanny Porsch of Henderson, NV and Laurel and husband Charles Lynn "Chuck" Greif of Hilton Head, SC; five grandchildren: Kirsten and her husband Joseph Woyte; Adam Porsch, Judson Greif and wife Emily, Clinton Greif and Alexandra Greif; two great grandchildren Emily and Mackenzie. Woyte; sister Berdine Herbers of Las Vegas, NV; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.
