Coral Weeks
Died, Saturday evening, July 20, 1889, of cholesteatoma, Coral, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Weeks, aged 9 months and 2 days. Little Coral, was a bright and interesting child, and her sudden death brought sorrow to the hearts of the fond parents. The funeral was held from the Presbyterian Church Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, Rev. Paden conducting the services. The remains were interred in the Manning Cemetery.
We knelt beside our baby's bed,
Just at the close of day.
And saw the sunshine of her life
Forever fade away.
She opened wide her tender eyes,
And looked into our own,
And then we knew how dear to us
Our little one had grown.
Her blue eyes closed in death's long sleep;
God bore her soul away;
An with the break of morn it passed
Into eternal day.
Note: there are NO records from either the official Manning city records or the Iowa Genealogical Society tombstone records of Coral Weeks buried in the Manning Cemetery - so she must be one of the burials not recorded or possibly is recorded under a different name.
