Constance Gay, daughter of William E. and Patricia (Lightfoot) Sibbel was born August 11, 1951, at Manning, Iowa. She lived with her family north of Manning and attended country school through the second grade. After the country school closed, Connie attended school in Manning graduating with the Class of 1970. She completed one year of college at Fort Dodge before starting to work at the Pottawattamie County Treasurer's Office in Council Bluffs. After two years there she moved back with her mother north of Manning.
On April 14, 1973, Connie was united in marriage with Robert Snyder at Manning. They made their home in Manning and raised their three children. Connie was a homemaker, however she continued to work first at the Carroll County Treasurer's Office in Carroll for five years. Then in 1979 she started working part time at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center in the dietary department. Between 1994 and 1997 Connie completed more training and was rehired as a counselor tech at the Manning Family Recover Center where she worked until 2010. Connie had been diagnosed with cancer in 1999 when she started chemotherapy. She worked and continued her chemotherapy until 2010 when she learned that the cancer had metastasized throughout her body. Her positive attitude and sense of humor, along with her family and friends, supported her throughout these difficult years. Connie collected ceramic Christmas trees, enjoyed sewing, fishing and listening to 60s music. She was involved in her husband's business, Bob's Construction, as bookkeeper throughout their marriage.
Connie's cancer really started to affect her health in a negative way in 2012 however she was able to remain at home with the loving care of her family and hospice. She died there on Wednesday evening, February 6, 2013, at the age of 61 years, 5 months and 26 days.
Preceding Connie in death was her father in 1968. She is survived by her husband Robert 'Bob' Snyder of Manning; three children Robert William (Lorie) Snyder of Manning; Steven (Stephanie) Snyder of Manning and Debra Snyder and boyfriend Chris Uchytil of Des Moines; step grandson Kurds Snyder; five grandchildren Dylan and Devin Snyder and Madelyn, Eian and Westen Snyder; her mother Patricia Ann Sibbel of Carroll; sisters Diana (Bob) Fagan of Manning and Peggy Ann (Jim) Black of Polk City; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
