CLETUS T. MCGRANE
Cletus McGrane died Thursday, January 8, 2004, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll at the age of 80. Cletus was born on July 27, 1923, on a farm near Halbur, Iowa, the son of James and Margaret (Dalton) McGrane. He spent most of his lifetime in the Halbur community and attended country school and Carroll High School in Carroll. Cletus and Donna Rowedder were married on July 31, 1947, at Sacred Heart Church in Manning, Iowa The couple farmed the McGrane family farm west of Halbur. The McGrane farm has been in the family for 140 years. Cletus and Donna retired to their home in Carroll in the early 1990's. He was a member of St. Lawrence Parish and the Parish Men's Club. Cletus dearly loved his family and enjoyed dancing, singing, listening to music, and playing cards, horseshoes, and golf.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Steven (Donna) McGrane, Julie (Jim) Williams, Lori (Tom) Seidl, and Cindy McGrane; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and sister and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Wilbert Lussman, and Jim Rowedder. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James McGrane; brother-in-law, Paul Volquartsen; and sister-in-law, Mary Rowedder.
