CLAUS H. "CLAUSIE" STROSAHL
Claus H. Strosahl, the son of Claus and Margaretha Eckhoff Strosahl, was born on July 23, 1922. He attended rural school near his home in Crawford, County.
Clausie was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Moore on
September 18, 1947. They farmed north of Manning all their married years. He was in failing health the past several months and died at St.
Anthony's Hospital in Carroll on Wednesday 1 evening, June 12, 1974. Survivors include his wife Dorothy; three daughters, Mrs. Allen (Dianna) Seedorff, of Waterloo; Mrs. Keith (Carolyn) Weller of Denison;
Marilyn Strosahl of Carroll; one son, Bill Strosahl, at home; two granddaughters; two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Margot) Carson of Seattle, Washington;
Mrs. Clarence (Mercedes) Bowers of Manning and one brother, John Strosahl of Yakima, Washington.
Funeral services for Clausie Strosahl, 51, of Manning, were
held on Saturday, June 15, 1974 at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning.
Pastor Edward F. Heinicke officiated with burial in the Manning Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Carl Schrum, Glenn Steinke, Barry Kusel, Alvan Hansen, Willis Hill and Larry Genzen. Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in, death by one brother.
Sixteen men, 14 tractors, eight women and two toddlers were the helping hands of Clausie Strosahl, completing spring field work.
Assisting in the 50 acres of plowing were: Roger Eischeid, Keith Weller, LeRoy Halbur, Barry Kusel, Robert Tank, Alvan Hansen, Virgil Genzen, Lawrence Sporrer, Don Vonnahme, Orlo Nissen, Alfred Ahrendsen, Russell Mohr, Herb Bruhn, Melvin Kusel and Allen Seedorff of Waterloo. Ralph Monson, Champlin dealer, supplied the fuel for the machines. Men and machines turned 50 acres of land in about 2 1/2 hours, using an accumulation of plow bottoms.
Women who assisted Dorothy Strosahl were: Elaine Hansen, Mrs. Alfred Ahrendsen, Mrs. Bob Tank, Marge Kusel, Carolyn Weller, Dianna Seedorff and Cynthia Genzen.
Strosahl had major surgery in January and is not able to do field work; His capacity for work is limited until later this year. The Strosahls live one mile north of the northeast corner of Manning and mile west.
