Funeral Services Held Friday For Claus Thomssen
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Manning Lutheran Church for Claus Thomssen, who died Tuesday evening, September 26, 1944, in the Methodist Hospital at Omaha. Pastor John M. Ansorge, officiated.

Burial was in the Manning cemetery and six nephews were pallbearers: Henry, Grant and Ferdinand Fredricksen, Harry Lamaack, Henry Wenzel, and Alfred Walters.

Mr. Thomssen, who died at the age of 64 years, was born January 8, 1880, in Hemmingstedt, Holstein, Germany. He came to this country in 1889, at the age of nine years, and settled at Aspinwall, where he grew to manhood. He spent part of his early life as a store clerk and farm hand.

February 20, 1907, he was married to Miss Emma Kai. Four children were born to them: Verna (Mrs. Pete) Jorgensen, Henry, both of whom live in this vicinity, and Merle and Estella at home.

Survivors additional to his wife and children are six grandchildren: Alice and Hazel Jorgensen, Darlene, Larry, Judy, and Jean Thomssen; a sister, Mrs. August Frederickson of manning, and a brother, Ferdinand Thomssen of Anchor, Illinois. A half-brother and three half-sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Thomssen passed away after a year's illness. He had been in the Omaha hospital since July 28, and his wife had been there with him for the last six weeks.
