Claus Strosahl succumbed at Audubon hospital

Claus Strosahl, 76, retired farmer of Manning, died Wednesday night at the Audubon county hospital after having been in failing health seven months

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p m Saturday, September 24, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev George B. Eschenbacher, pastor of Zion Lutheran church officiating, Burial was in Manning. Pall-bearers were Roy Mahnke, George Jackson, Alvin Hagedorn, Bennie Otto, Marvin Kuhl and Ed Meggers.

Mr. Strosahl, a native of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, was born April 11, 1884. He came to the United States in 1904, settling in Eastern Iowa before coming to the Manning community in 1908.

He married Margretha Eckhoff March 5, 1913 and they had five children. They farmed north of Manning until Mrs. Strosahl died in 1941, after which he lived on the farm with his son, Clausie. His health began to fail seven months ago and he was moved to the Friendship Home at Audubon.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Manning.
Preceding him in death were his wife, a son in infancy, his parents, four sisters, a brother and a grandson.

Surviving are four children. Mrs. W.H. Carson (Margaret) of Seattle, Washington; John of Yakima, Washington; Mrs. Clarence Bowers (Mercedes) of Manning, and Clausie of Manning; a sister, Mrs. Emma Harden of Germany, and 12 grandchildren,
