CLAUS STRATHMANN DEAD
Old Pioneer of Hayes Township Passes Away In Denison Mr. Claus Frederick Strathmann died at his home in Denison last Saturday afternoon, after several weeks' illness from a complication of ailments. The funeral was held on Tuesday at the home, Rev. E.O. Johnson of the German Methodist Church officiating.

The remains were then conveyed to Hayes Township Cemetery where interment was made.

Mr. Strathmann was born December 16, 1845, in Rendsburg, Germany, and came to America in 1872, locating at Davenport. In 1875, he was married at that place to Margaret Strathmann and they came to Crawford County in 1882, locating in Hayes Township where the deceased was a prominent citizen for many years.

He built and operated the Five-Mile House in that township for many years, and his place was known far and wide. He came to Denison with his wife and family about a year ago. He leaves his wife, two sons, John and Emil, and one daughter, Clara (Mrs. Emil) Pump, to mourn his death.

These relatives have the sympathy of all in the loss of a good husband and father.
