Funeral services for Claus Frederick Stammer were held at the Ohde Funeral home in Manning Monday, June 17, with the Rev. Arthur Raeside of the Presbyterian church officiating. Burial was in the Manning cemetery and the following acted as pallbearers, Clarence Bowers, Robert Bowers, Ed Erps, Leslie Stammer, Milo Stammer, and Harold Stammer.

Music was furnished by a quartet, Mrs. Nick C. Schrum, Mrs. Albert Dietz, Ray Pratt and Clifford M. Johnson with Mrs. Bonita Hagedorn at the organ.

Mr. Stammer was born July 8, 1877, at Clinton, the son of Claus and Catherine Stammer. He came to Crawford County in 1879 and had been a resident of Manning for the past six years and had farmed near Manning since coming to this vicinity.

He was married February 7, 1906, to Emma Dockweiler at Denison. He is survived by his wife, two children, Mrs. John Meeves, Goldie, and Clarence Stammer, three grandchildren, Roland, Myra Kay Meeves, and Clifford Stammer, also four brothers and one sister. His parents, one brother and one sister and two grandchildren preceded him in death.

He became ill of a malignant disease in November 1944 and became bedfast in March, 1946. He passed away at his home about 4:15 June 15, 1946. He was a member of the Manning Presbyterian Church. He was a farmer and a carpenter.

Attending the services from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bowers and son, Earl, Mrs. Alfred Wold, Mr. Ben Erps. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Erps, Mr. Emil Dockweiler, all of Scotland, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stammer, Mrs. William Spegle, Denison; Mrs. Renold Stammer, Vail; Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Stammer, Westside; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dorf, Mr. and Mrs. Garrott Taylor, Mrs. Revina Taylor of Omaha, Nebraska, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Meeves of Arion.

Members of Mr. Stammer's immediate family and his brother, Louie, were at his bedside when death came.

Mr. and Mrs. Stammer lived on the farm until 1917 when they retired and mowed Manning. Here they lived for four years returning to the farm in 1951 where they remained until 1940 when they moved back to Manning.
