Services for Clarence Armstrong "Port" Porter, 92, were held Friday, September 27, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, in Dubuque, Iowa. Interment was in the Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque. He passed away Sunday, September 22, 2002 at Bethany Home.

Clarence, son of Harry and Margaret (Armstrong) Porter was born October 15, 1909 in Manning, Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa following his graduation from Manning High School in 1927.

He married Myrtle Alberta Nesler on August 16, 1932 in Dubuque. She passed away on February 10, 2002. Clarence was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where he was a Sunday school teacher, Deacon and an elder. Clarence belonged to the Metropolitan Masonic Lodge #49 AFAM for more than 70 years, served on the council for the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of the International Typographical Union in Dubuque.

Clarence has had 2 books published and many articles in his many creative years, his favorite of which was "The Way I See It". He retired in 1976, from the TH, as production manager. Clarence will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his sincere love and devotion for his family.

Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one sister, Mabel Porter, and a brother Wilbur Porter.

He is survived by his sons Jack and wife Gladys Porter of Dubuque; Bill and his wife Janet Porter of Cable, Wisconsin; and Paul and his wife Carole Porter of Dubuque; seven grandchildren: Steven and his wife Lynne Porter, Susanne Taylor, Douglas and his wife Carrie Porter, David Porter, Gretchen and her husband Jeremy Pust, Bryan Porter, and Kara Porter; five great grandchildren; Melissa Taylor, Andy Porter, Ryan Porter, Zachary Porter and Lucas Porter; and a sister, Alice Mihalovich of Bethany Home.
