Services were Saturday for Clara Wheeler, 97, who died January 2, 1980, at home after a long illness.
Known as "Grandma Wheeler" to many Healdsburg Sunday School students, Mrs. Wheeler was a member of the Healdsburg Federated Church and taught Sunday School there until ill health forced her to retire in June 1976.
Mrs. Wheeler first came to Healdsburg in 1948. She arrived in California in 1946 and established a Sunday School in Samoa, near Eureka, an area that had no church.
A native of Manning, Iowa, Mrs. Wheeler taught Sunday School for over 50 years in all. She was also a housewife.
Mrs. Wheeler is survived by her sister, Rose Hoffmann of Healdsburg; daughter, Madeline McIntosh of Santa Rosa; sons, Dave Wheeler of Healdsburg and Jack Wheeler of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Burial was at Oak Mound Cemetery in Healdsburg.
The family prefers that donations be made to the Federated Church.
