CLARA STOBERL

Clara Stoberl, 89, of Manning, died Sunday, December 18, 1983, at the Manning Plaza Nursing Home where she had been a resident for about three years.

Rite of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 1983, at Sacred Heart Church in Manning with the Rev. Msgr. Dean Walker as celebrant. Music will be furnished by the church choir. Burial, under the direction of the Ohde Funeral Home of Manning, will be in the parish cemetery. Serving as casketbearers will be Ronald Dreher, Jonnie Meislahn, Richard Stoberl, Eugene Stoberl, David Stoberl, Dennis Stoberl, and Randy Stoberl.

Mrs. Stoberl is survived by seven children: Mrs. Irvin (Sophia) Heckenliable, Manning; Mrs. Louis (Valeria) Dreher, Audubon; Mrs. Herman (Irene) Meislahn, Gray; Reuben Stoberl and his wife, Edith, Manning; Leonard Stoberl and his wife, Margaret, Audubon; Lyle Stoberl and his wife, Mary, Stuart; Norbert Stoberl and his wife, Virginia, Manning; 21 grandchildren and 29 great­grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Mersman, Carroll; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four grandchildren, a foster-grandchild, two great­grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. William (Anna) Schon and Mrs. Boniface (Bernadine) Kasperbauer; two brothers: John J. Mersman and Adam in infancy; three adopted sisters and brothers: Mary Wiskus, Joseph Mersman, and Alfred Mersman.

Mrs. Stoberl was born October 27, 1894, near Halbur, a daughter of Joseph and Clara (Reinfeldt) Mersman. She attended Holy Angels School in Roselle and later St. Augustine school in Halbur.

On February 17, 1914, she was married to Anton "Tony" Stoberl at St. Augustine Church in Halbur.

They lived in Arcadia for seven years where her husband was a blacksmith.

In 1921, they moved to a farm in Ewoldt Township, Carroll County. She remained on the family farm for 59 years until December 4, 1980, when she entered the Manning Plaza Nursing Home.

Her husband died on July 4, 1955.

She was a member of Sacred Heart parish at Manning, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar Society.
