Funeral services for Clara Agnes Rauch were held Thursday, May 25, 1989, at 2:00 p.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Pastor David Rauch of the Cornerstone Family Church, and Pastor Sushil Joseph of the United Methodist Church, officiated the service. Organist was Bev Smith, and Larry Genzen was vocalist. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with Chuck Hughes, Steve Schrum, Steve McCollum, Duane Boersma, Dale Quick, and Skip Schrum serving as casketbearers.
Agnes, daughter of Percy and Clara (Scott) Wickwar, was born September 10, 1912, at Kirwin, Kansas. She graduated from Goodland, Kansas, High School. On January 17, 1932, Agnes was united in marriage with Arthur S. Rauch at the Goodland Christian Church Parsonage in Goodland, Kansas. They farmed near Grand City, Missouri, and later near Mt. Ayr, Iowa, moving to Manning, Iowa, in 1963 when her husband worked for their son, Charles. Agnes worked at both Manning General Hospital and St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll.
Agnes was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and a Bible Study Group, as well as the Cornerstone Family Church. During her lifetime Agnes enjoyed fishing, quilting, and crocheting. She took great pleasure in caring for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed all sports and was well versed in political issues.
Agnes had been in failing health for a couple of months before her death on Monday, May 22, 1989, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, at the age of 76 years, 8 months, and 12 days.
She was preceded in death by her husband; by her parents; by two granddaughters; by three brothers, Ernie, Bud and Bill Wickwar; and by a sister, Millie Lowther.
Agnes is survived by her children: Charles Rauch and his wife, Pam, of Manning: Jeannette and her husband, Lyle Quick, of Ellston; Dean Rauch and his wife, Linda, of Thurmont, Maryland; Leslie Rauch and his wife, Cela, of Denison; Leland Rauch and his wife, Wanda, of Houston, Texas; Helen and her husband, Wendell Akers, of Geneseo, Illinois; and David Rauch and his wife, Sue, of Manning. Other survivors include 22 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters: Elizabeth Wieck, of St. Francis, Kansas; Ruth Allen, of Denver, Colorado; Dora Bigbee, of Seattle, Washington; Marcelene Wilson, of El Dorado, Kansas; and Ruby Hawes, of Denver, Colorado; a brother, Robert Wickwar, of Goodland, Kansas; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
