Christina Ploog came to America and located in New York, where she was employed for several years. She then came to Manning, Iowa, where she was united in marriage to Frederick Knaack who preceded her in death in 1919. On August 20, 1964, she was married to Fred Steinhauer. Mr. and Mrs. Steinhauer were employed by the Manning-Manilla golf course for several years and the Cedar rest golf course, Lake Villa, Illinois. The past two years, Mrs. Steinhauer has made her home with her son, William, in North Hollywood, California.
The four children who survive are Edward, Manning; William, North Hollywood; Helen Chicago; and Mrs. Joseph
King, Hildagard, Chicago; her husband Fred Steinhauer and five Grandchildren, Jerry, Barbara and Philip Knaack,
Manning; William Jr. and Donald Dean Knaack, North Hollywood. Gene Arthur Knaack grandson died infancy. Other
survivors are a brother August Ploog, Manning, and a sister-in-law, Henry Rostermundt, her Father Herman Ploog,
a sister and six brothers in Germany.
She entered the Burbank Hospital October 5th, where she underwent an operation. Her condition was satisfactory
until Monday morning when she had a relapse and passed away Monday afternoon.
