Funeral services for Chris F. Tank, 82, were held from the Ohde Funeral home
June 13 with the Rev. Arthur Raeside of the Presbyterian Church officiating.
Burial was in the Manning Cemetery, and the following nephews
acted is pallbearers: William, Albert, George, Otto, Herbert, and Harry
Schroeder. Music was furnished by a quartet: Martha (Mrs. Nicholas C.) Schrum, Claribel
(Mrs. Jay L.) Bingham, Ray Pratt and Clifford M. Johnson, with Mrs. Schrum at the organ.
Mr. Tank was born February 15, 1864, in Schleswig, Holstein, Germany, and passed away at his home in Manning June 11, 1946. Mr. Tank came to America in 1868 when he was four years old. His parents settled at Davenport, Iowa, where the family lived for four years until they moved to Benton County. After living there for three years, he moved with his parents in 1875 to Carroll County to a farm north of Manning.
On October 1, 1891, he was married to Margaret Christina Hass. Their life together was long and happy. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1941. After a brief period when he was in the lumber business, he resumed farming and retired in 1919 to a home that he had purchased in Manning. Besides his wife, Mr. Tank is survived by his son, Louie and by three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
