Death of Christian Wiese.
February 11, 1909 Manning Monitor

Christian Wiese died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jochim Ploen some six miles southeast of Manning, on last Thursday evening, old age being the principal cause of death. If the old gentleman could have lived until 25th day of July next, he would have been 81 years of age. Mr. Wiese was also an uncle to C.H. Grimm, who resides southeast of town. He was a good, kind old man and loved by all his associates.

Christian Wiese was born in Stackendorf, Germany. While a young man he served in the war of 1848 in Germany, came to America over 25 years ago and has resided in and about here ever since.

The funeral took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jochim Ploen Monday afternoon, officiated by Rev. Guenther, of the Lutheran Church, Lincoln Township, after which the remains were interred in the Manning Cemetery south of town, followed by a long concourse of sorrowing friends.
