Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 12, 1978, at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Irwin. The Rev. Leon Wallace officiated. Organist was Mrs. Ruthanne Barry, vocalist, Milton Barry. Casketbearers were Rick Hargens, Randy Hargens, Chuck Andersen, Dennis Andersen, Mark Winsor and Lonny Kolln and interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Irwin. The Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.
Charles Everett, son of Mr. & Mrs. George Winsor, was born March 24, 1900, at Olney, Illinois. He attended the rural schools in Illinois and as a young boy came to the Irwin community. He later was a herdsman for Escher and Ryan who specialized in the Black Angus cattle. He was united in marriage with Dagmar Jensen on March 25, 1924. After living one year in Missouri they moved to a farm near Irwin and for the past 34 years have lived on the present home place.
Charlie has been ill for the past four weeks and at that time entered St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll. About one week ago he was taken to the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, where he passed away on Sunday, July 9, 1978, at the age of 78 years, 3 months, and 15 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Dagmar, and by the following children: Thelma, Mrs. Lester Hargens of Avoca, Mrs. Lois Andersen of Dunlap, Kenneth Winsor of Charter Oak, Melva, Mrs. Ray Kolln of Dow City, and Donna, Mrs. Vic Schwiesow of Manning; by 26 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and by one brother, Byron Winsor of Tuscola, Illinois; as well as by many other relatives and friends.
