Dr. Charles A. Wiese
Funeral services for Dr. Charles A. Wiese, 77, were held June 5 at the First Presbyterian Church here. The Rev. William Rata officiated. Pallbearers were six nephews, Meves Wiese, William F. Ohde, Francis Zerwas, Ed Lamp, Frank Lamp, and M.F. Swaney. Burial, in charge of the Karn Funeral Home, was in Lake City Cemetery.

Mr. Wiese, son of Dethlef and Margaret Wiese, was born April 29, 1877, in Crawford County, Iowa. He received his elementary and high school education in Westside and Manning. From 1897 to 1901, he and a brother operated a general store in Aspinwall, Iowa.

In 1901, he entered the College of Dentistry at the State University of Iowa and in 1902, transferred to the College of Dentistry at Northwestern University, where he received the degree of doctor of dental surgery in 1904.

Following his graduation he began practicing dentistry in Lake City.

On December 21, 1904, he was married to Katherine Brunnier at Manning. They were the parents of one child, Margaret.

Dr. Wiese practiced dentistry in Lake City for 35 years, retiring from active practice in 1939. He died at his home in Lake City June 3, 1954, after a long illness.

Dr. Wiese served on the city council of Lake City for two years; he was a member of the Lake City Board of Education for 30 years, serving as president of the board for several terms; and he was a member of the Calhoun County Board of Education for 29 years. He was also a Member of the Masonic Lodge and of the Order of the Eastern Star; end he had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City since 1932.

Preceding him in death were his parents; four sisters; and five brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Katherine Wiese, Lake City; one daughter, Margaret, Mrs. Donald Osborn, Auburn, Iowa; three grandchildren, Wyatt, Kea, and Toni Osborn, Auburn, Iowa; and one brother, Albert Wiese, Manning.
