FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS, H. PETERS
HELD LAST THURSDAY
Highly Respected Resident of Westside Community Dies in Carroll October 22
Funeral services for Mrs. Henry P. F. Peters were held last week Thursday afternoon from St. John's Lutheran church, Arcadia, Rev. Tews officiating. The student body and faculty of the Westside school attended the services in a body.
Pallbearers were Henry Kroeger, Henry Noelck, Fred Maasen, John Oeser, Herman Vetter and Hannes Stoffers.
Interment was in the Westside cemetery.
Mrs. Peters was taken seriously ill October 17 and the same day was removed to the St. Anthony hospital, Carroll, where an operation was performed.
The operation revealed that an abscess in the abdomen had ruptured and it was realized that she was in a grave condition. Everything possible that medical care and expert nursing could do was done in an effort to save her life, but she breathed her last Monday evening, October 22, 1934, at 11:20 o'clock.
Celia Peters, nee Bauer, was born November 23, 1895, at Friedrichskoog, Holstein, Germany, and died at the age of 38 years and 11 months.
The early years of her life were spent in her native land. Here she attended the schools and was baptized in the Lutheran faith. At the age of 16 years she came to the United States with Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Kroeger.
September 26, 1917, she was married to Henry P. F. Peters at Arcadia, Ia. They immediately established their home in this community and have been one of the esteemed and respected families.
Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Peters. They are: Vernon, 16; Arlene, 15; Lester, 13, and Raymond, 10. Besides the grief stricken husband, Mrs. Peters is survived by three sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Fred Stoffers and Mrs. Hannes Thies of Westside, Mrs. John Steinhauer of Manning, Wm. Bauer of Manning, Adolph Bauer of Breda and Louie Bauer of Westside. Her parents, six sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
