Illness Fatal to Mrs. Wenzel, 80

Mrs. Catherine Wenzel, 80, of Manson, a former Fort Dodge, resident, died early Monday at Lutheran hospital after a two-month's illness. She had been a medical patient at the hospital since Saturday.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. The pastor, the Rev. Ad Schwidder, will officiate.
Mrs. Wenzel was a member of that church.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
The Guenther funeral home is in charge of the funeral arrangements. The casket will be taken from the funeral home to the church at noon Wednesday. The casket will be open until time of the service, but will not be open during or following the rites.

Mrs. Wenzel was born May 6, 1872, in a log cabin in Lizard Township, Pocahontas County. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Steckelberg.
She attended the Lizard Township Schools. On April 11, 1898, she was married in Pocahontas County to Charles Wenzel.

The couple resided on a farm near Manilla, Iowa, until 1913, when they retired and moved to Fort Dodge.

Mrs. Wenzel died in 1928. For the past several years Mrs. Wenzel had made her home with her children.

Survivors
Surviving are her children: Mrs. H.C. Huebner of Carroll; Carl Wenzel of Fort Dodge; Mrs. H.O. Brown of Maywood, Illinois; Mrs. B.H. Arkebauer, of Kansas City, Missouri; and Mrs. H.H. Renken of Manson; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The following stepchildren also survive her: Mrs. Fred Rutz, Mrs. Jake Fielweber, both of Manning, Iowa; Helmut Wenzel of Westside, Iowa; and Bernard Wenzel of Vail, Iowa.

Several sisters and brothers also survive her. They are Mrs. Maria Witte of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Mrs. William Elson and Mrs. Henry Onken of Palmer; Henry Steckelberg of Fox River Grove, Illinois, and Mrs. Henry Kenning of Pomeroy.
Also surviving her is an uncle, Fred Steckelberg of Manilla, Iowa.
Her husband, her parents, two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
