MRS. CATHERINE SCHROEDER
(Charlotte, Iowa October 3, 1950)

Mrs. Catherine M. Schroeder, 86, died at noon Tuesday in her home at Charlotte following a short illness. The body will be removed from Hanrahan funeral home, DeWitt, to the family home tonight. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Schroeder home. The Rev. I.G. Kitzman of Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate and burial will be in Ingwersen Cemetery.

The former Catherine Boyens was born September 21, 1864, in Germany, the daughter of Andrew and Marie (Katharine on wedding certificate) Boyens. She was married in 1886 to Herman Schroeder and they observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1936. He died in 1941.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Chris Michaelsen, Clinton, Mrs. Arthur Stenzel, Maquoketa, and Mrs. Fritz Gluesing, Charlotte; three sons, Otto A. of Charlotte, George C. and William C., both of Clinton, 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine M. Schroeder, 86, were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Fritz Gluesing of Charlotte. Rev. I.G. Kitzmann of the Immanuel Lutheran church officiated and burial was in Ingwersen Cemetery.

Pallbearers, all grandsons, were Clifton, Orlin, Wesely and Rodney Schroeder, and Calvin Michaelsen. Flowers were in charge of the following grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Mrs. Wesley Schroeder, Mrs. Calvin Michaelsen, Mrs. Ross Swimford, Mrs. Orlin Schroeder, Mrs. Jimmy Smith, Miss Donna Mae Kimball, Miss Dale (Gail) Bruce (Bruse) and Miss Carol Schroeder.

Among those from out of town at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Siem and Mrs. Leroy Jones, Manning; Lester Siem, Carroll; Mr. and Mrs. Boyens and Mrs. Kate Farley, Perry; Clifton Schroeder, Kirksville, Mo., and other from Grand Mound, Maquoketa, Preston, Clinton , DeWitt and surrounding towns.


Notes: Attending Catherine's funeral from Manning, Iowa include Mr. & Mrs. Peter Siem (nephew, son of Henry and sister Anna Boyens Siem), Mrs. Leroy Joens - Geraldine Siem (great niece, daughter of Peter Siem). From Carroll came Lester Siem (great nephew, son of Peter Siem). Catherine lived with her sister Anna Boyens Siem in Crawford County at the time of the 1885 census.

Boyens's attending from Perry, Mr. & Mrs. Harry Boyens (nephew, son of brother Andrew) and Mrs. Kate Farley (niece, daughter of brother Andrew). Andrew died about a decade before his younger sister at Catherine's home in Charlotte, Iowa.

Catherine's nephews & nieces: Charles died infancy, Fred, Harry, Andrew, Kathryn Farley, Margaret Hagedorn, Dora Soll, Emma Wiese, Elsie Wiese, Elizabeth Dammann
