DEATH OF MRS. PAYSEN.
Mrs. Thomas Paysen, after a lingering illness of several months, died at her late home in Charter Oak on Monday, January 15, 1900.

Prior to their removal to Charter Oak in 1895, the Paysen family lived in Manning for some eight or ten years. The remains of Mrs. Paysen were brought back to Manning for interment on Tuesday, arriving on the 2:30 p.m. train, and accompanied by the husband and other members of the family; also several members of the M.W. of A. Camp of Charter Oak. At the depot, the party was met by Barber Camp, No. 1771, M.W.A., and by it escorted to the Presbyterian Church where short, but fitting addresses were made by Professor Harthun of Denison and Mr. Douglas Rogers of the local camp, of which Mr. Paysen is a member. Then the funeral cortege made up of over one hundred Woodmen on foot and many citizens in carriages, moved out to the Manning Cemetery where interment took place.

Mrs. Catharine (Dreessen) Paysen was born in Germany June 23, 1865, coming with her parents to America while yet quite young. In 1884 she was married to Mr. Thomas Paysen near Westside, where her father resides, her mother having died a number of years ago.
