CARSON OHM
July 20, 1911 Manning Monitor

Was born March 17, 1833, at Rensburg, Schleswig Holstein, Germany, and died Monday morning at 2:30, aged 78 years and 4 months. When 28 years of age he came to America settled in Illinois. In 1865 he was married to Miss Mary Hennings and later moved to Iowa County, Iowa, then to Audubon County and finally to Manning. Fourteen children were born to this union, four however preceded the father to the grave. The mother still survives, also ten children as follows: George, Pete, Charles, Willie, Mrs. Anna Tomlinson of Settler, Canada; Mrs. Mary Teeney of Audubon; Mrs. Emma Chapman of Minneapolis; Louis, Elanore and Harry.

Three years ago the deceased suffered a paralytic stroke and has been confined to his home since. Not withstanding this affliction he lived on as he did before, without any complaint to make. The deceased was perhaps better known in Audubon than in Manning. There he lived for many years and raised a large family of sons and daughters. He was always ready to help a neighbor or do his part to make someone happy. He was a strong and rugged man and had a true father's heart. The services were held from his home in South Manning, Rev. Fruechte officiating, after which kind hands took the body to the cemetery at Audubon where it was buried. The many friends extend the hand of sympathy to the sorrowing wife, sons and daughters in their bereavement.
