Former Carroll Resident Dies In Fort Dodge

Mrs. W.D. Swaney, 64, of Ft. Dodge, who lived in Carroll from 1907 to 1919, died at Mercy Hospital, Ft. Dodge, last night, January 9, 1944, after an illness extending back to last June.

Funeral services are to be at 10:30 Wednesday morning at St. Marks's Episcopal Church, Ft. Dodge, and burial, will be there.

Mrs. Swaney was well-known in Carroll, where her husband was in the automobile business while the family lived here. Since leaving Carroll, the family has resided in Ft. Dodge where Mr. Swaney has been an automobile dealer for twenty-five years.

Mrs. Swaney, whose maiden name was Caroline "Carrie" Brunnier, born at Manning February 10, 1879, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Julius and Caroline (Koepke) Brunnier, who were Pioneers of this county. Her marriage to Mr. Swaney took place January 8, 1902.

Surviving with her husband are three sons and two daughters, Milton, Clarion, Iowa; Marion, Ft. Dodge, Iowa; Lyle, Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs. L.M. Jones (Ruth) Davenport, Iowa; and Mrs. Thomas Moore (Minerva) Ft. Dodge, Iowa; nine grandchildren; one brother and six sisters. Two of her sisters live at Manning. They are Francis (Mrs. William) Ohde and Agnes (Mrs. Phil) Zerwas.
