Miss Carolina "Carrie" Stahl Dead.
June 23, 1910 Manning Monitor
Last Monday June 19, 1910, occurred one of the saddest
deaths that has occurred in this community for some time, when Miss Carrie
Stahl, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand "Fred" and Pauline F. (Schroeder) Stahl, living
south of Manning, died. Born on October 23, 1891, she was a little over 18
years of age and in the full strength of womanhood. She had been sick for less
than a week and had been enjoying good health, but she was attacked by that
dreaded pneumonia and in a very short time the fever began to raise in spite of all the efforts of the doctors and trained
nurse. For some time the fever was over 107 degrees high. No one could live
with such a high fever and she finally passed peacefully away.
The funeral was preached at the home Wednesday afternoon,
Rev. Gunther giving the funeral address and speaking
comforting words to the bereaved parents and relatives. A great many friends
had gathered at Mr. Stahl's home in respect of their daughter and afterward
sorrowfully followed the remains to the Manning Cemetery where kind hands laid her body to rest.
For the last eight months Miss Stahl had been working in Mr.
Wilbat's tailor shop and was a bright young lady full of promise. She leaves her parents, three brothers and
two sisters, a number of relatives and a host of friends who sincerely mourn her untimely death.
