Carol May Wood was born on December 13, 1929, to Ogden and Ida (Shull) Wood in Ewing, Nebraska. She moved with her family to Manning, Iowa, where she attended school. On December 7, 1946 she married Earl Schwiesow in Harlan, Iowa. The couple made their home in Defiance, Iowa, and later moved to Fredericksburg, Iowa, where she lived until 2006 when she moved to be near her daughter in Nashua. Carol was a very intelligent, loving and caring person. She was a homemaker deeply devoted to her family and her religious beliefs. Inheriting her father’s intelligence she had numerous hobbies with her favorites being crocheting and reading. Growing up she would build airplanes with her brothers and used her artistic abilities to draw beautiful pictures. Her life was devoted in helping all her kids anyway she could.

Carol is survived by two daughters Faye (Ron) Leichtman of New Hampton and Mary (Gene) Overlien of Nashua; three sons Richard (Sandra) Schwiesow of Freeport, Illinois, Michael (Tammy) Schwiesow of New York, and Tom (Marilu) Schwiesow of Des Moines, Iowa; 12 grandchildren Margo, Megan, Rob, Alex, Ted, Shannon, Lance, Mark, John, Sarah, Joshua and Danielle; and 14 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ogden and Ida Wood; her husband Earl (1999); son Robin (1961); daughter Sally (2004), one sister Delores; and five brothers Duke, Don, Bill, Bob and Merle.
