In Memory of Carlene Joyce (Schrum) Stoffers
Carlene was born on December 4, 1941, to Carl and Dorothy (Martens) Schrum of Manning, Iowa. She was the oldest of four with siblings Ken, Arlen, and Darlys. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ken, and sister, Darlys.

Carlene grew up on a farm and after graduating from Manning High School in 1959, she attended a professional school in Omaha. She met Roger at a meeting of the Walther League - their church youth groups. After Roger completed serving in the army, they married on April 29, 1962. After they married, they traveled to Olympia, Washington, and then decided to move to Portland, Oregon, for a few months. From there they moved to southern California, Inglewood and Van Nuys. It was not until 1964 they put down roots in the Bay Area, until 2019 making one last move to Post Falls, Idaho.

Carlene worked for several companies as a secretary, until her career path landed her at World Savings and Loan in their home loan department. She excelled in this department and was asked to set up a home loan department in their San Antonio facility. She retired from Wells Fargo as a home loan supervisor.

Roger and Carlene were blessed with Tracy, their son-in-law, Kent, and her precious granddaughter, Sophie, with whom she has always had a remarkably special relationship.

Carlene was an avid and talented quitter, belonging to Prince of Peace, Peace by Piece Quilters, and Piecemakers Quilting Guild. Many of her quilts she made and gave away to family and friends. Carlene originals are on display here today. Her eye for color and pattern and playfulness can be seen in every quilt.

Carlene's faith was important to her. She was baptized into faith in Jesus as an infant, confirmed that faith as a teen, and clung closely to it throughout her life. She enjoyed being regularly in God's Word. She treasured friends, fellowship and sang in the choir.

Carlene passed away on July 24th, 2024, after a long battle with Parkinsons Disease. We give thanks for her life and the gift of eternal life God has given her by faith in Jesus.
