CARL FREDERICK WIESE

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 23, 1977, at 11 a.m. for Carl Frederick Wiese of Irwin, at the Ohde Funeral Home at Manilla, Iowa. Rev. J. Elmer Brunk, United Methodist Church, Irwin, officiated. Milton Barry was soloist and Ruth Anne Barry was organist, presenting "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden." Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Irwin with Roger Wiese, Craig Thompson, Danny Thompson, Jim Bexton, Sonny Goans, and Howard Kuchel as casketbearers.

Carl Frederick Wiese was born March 13, 1902, near Marne, Iowa. At the age of 16 years he came to the Irwin community where he worked on various farms. He was united in marriage with Leona Andresen June 26, 1929. They have lived near Irwin until 1962 when they moved into town. Carl farmed and also operated a truck. After moving to town he was custodian of Ruhs Park and for the Senior Citizens home in Irwin. He was active in the Senior Citizens' Club activities. After spending a week in the hospital in Harlan, Carl returned to his home this last Saturday where he passed away in his sleep early Sunday morning, February 20, 1977, at the age of 74 years, 11 months, and 7 days.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, and by one stepbrother, Ed Kuchel.

Mr. Wiese is survived by his wife, Leona; by three children: Mrs. Allan (Lyla) Thompson, Irwin, Mrs. Orlando (Ladelle) Hansen, Manilla, and Allan Wiese, Manning; by nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; by one stepsister, Mrs. Alvina Andresen, Irwin; by three stepbrothers, Bill Kuchel, Arcata, California, Albert Kuchel, Manning, and Harold Kuchel, Walnut, Iowa; as well as by many other relatives and friends.
