Interment was in the Manning Cemetery. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet composed of Miss Helen McGrath, Mrs. Emma Dietz, Herman Pahde, and Clifford Johnson. Mrs. Bonita Wood was the organ accompanist.
Carl Pruter had suffered with pernicious anemia for years and was treated for this disease constantly. Last Monday while at home he experienced a sinking spell and was taken to the hospital the same day. He passed away about 7 o'clock that evening.
Mr. Pruter was the second son of Wilhelm and Magdalena Pruter and was born in Kellinghusen, Holstein, Germany, April 20, 1867. His mother died when he was born. In the year 1869, at the age of 2, he came to the United States with his father and step-mother and two older brothers.
First At Wheatland
The family located at Wheatland, Iowa, where they stayed for four years and then moved to Westside.
He stayed in that neighborhood until he became 21 and then moved to Portland, Oregon, and later to California.
After several years, he returned to Westside. While there he was married to Dora Lammers of Upland, Nebraska. They lived on the Julius Rostermundt farm.
They had one daughter, Mrs. John (Elsie) Waller of Bennett, Iowa.
Mrs. Pruter passed away in 1920. In 1922, Mr. Pruter was married to Mrs. Gustav (Helen) Mohr. They resided in Manning since their marriage.
Mr. Pruter is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. John Waller of Bennett; a brother, Frank of Manning; two half-brothers, John of Boardman, Oregon, and William of Westside, and the following step-children: Mrs. August (Bertha) Karsten, John Mohr, Mrs. Henrietta Studemann, Mrs. Herman (Laura) Lage, and Henry Mohr, all of Manning. Two grandchildren, Albert and Lauretta Waller, also survive.
