C. John Moeller was born December 1st, 1847, in Germany and came to America a short time before he was 21 years of age, settling in Wisconsin. Later he moved to Davenport. Here he was united to Miss Matilda Johnk.

Several years later he and his wife moved to Plymouth County. In 1889 they moved to Audubon County where they resided until 9 years ago when they moved to Manning. Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Moeller: Fred, Mrs. Peter Ploen, and Peter. All live in the vicinity of Manning and all were present at the funeral.

The deceased also leaves two brothers, Hans of Manning, Iowa, and Peter of Springfield, Minnesota. The latter named gentleman and his wife came down from their Minnesota home to attend the funeral. Gus Johnk and wife, and Mrs. Fred Johnk of Walnut, relatives of the deceased were also present at the funeral.

For several weeks the deceased felt poorly. He was operated upon for appendicitis. From this he failed to rally and died Tuesday, October 21, 1913. The body was immediately, shipped to Manning. Rev. Tillmann at the Presbyterian Church building conducted the funeral services Friday. The body was taken by relatives and friends to the Manning Cemetery and laid to rest.

C. John Moeller was known as a most excellent husband, father and neighbor.

While on the farm he worked hard, and leaves a 400 acre farm as a monument of his thrift and energy.

While in Manning he lived a quiet life devoting most of his time to the care of an invalid wife to whom he was deeply devoted. It can truly be said he had no enemies and all who knew him were his friends.

The large gathering at the church services as conducted by Rev. Tillmann shows the esteem held for him by his neighbors and friends. He will be missed by his devoted wife, his family, his relatives, and his friends.
