Graveside Memorial Service for Bonnie Waterbury was held Sunday, May 29, 2005, at 4:00 p.m. Reverend Daniel Vogel of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa, officiated.
Bonnie Jean, daughter of Emil and Ella (Kitler) Schnoor, was born August 9, 1934, at Denison, Iowa. Bonnie grew up in Manilla and attended school there. Following schooling, she worked as a telephone operator in Manilla.
On May 20, 1951, Bonnie was united in marriage with William "Bill" Waterbury at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla. Three children were born to this union. Bonnie and Bill made their home in Minnesota for a short time before returning to Manilla where Bonnie worked as a waitress at the Manilla Train Depot and other restaurants. In 1960, they moved to Manning and Bonnie continued to work as a waitress. Bill died in January of 1984, and Bonnie continued to live in their home until the late 1980s when she moved into Terrace Apartments. In 2003, she became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home.
Bonnie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino and doing word search. Bonnie had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed visiting.
On Thursday, May 26, 2005, Bonnie died at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, Iowa, following a lengthy illness. She was 70 years, 9 months, and 17 days of age.
Besides her parents and husband, Bonnie was preceded in death by two sisters LaVonne Anthony and Irene Nelson and a brother Melvin Schnoor.
She is survived by her children: Deb and husband Tom Lingle of Manilla; Vicki Waterbury and husband Dennis Friedman of Jefferson; and Tim Waterbury of Des Moines; five grandchildren: Renae Lingle and fiancé Yuri Rowley; Cody Lingle; Ryan Truitt and wife Frannie; Jason Truitt and Shandi Jo Waterbury; four great-grandchildren: Savannah Rowley; Jessica Truitt, Kelsey Truitt and Madison Truitt; a brother Merlin Schnoor and wife Marge of Manilla; a sister Garnet Waterbury of Chula Vista, California; a half-brother Marlin Manford and wife Hope of Jefferson City, Missouri; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
