BONNIE KAY (BEERMAN) BRANDT-MESSICK

Bonnie Kay Brandt-Messick was born October 1, 1953, the daughter of Charles and Leona (Hagedorn) Beerman. She died at her home in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Sunday, May 15, 2011, at the age of fifty-seven.

Bonnie was born in Manning, Iowa, and while still young, she moved with her parents to Omaha, Nebraska, where she was raised. She received her education in the Omaha Public Schools and attended South and Tech High Schools. After completing her education, she was united in marriage to George Brandt Sr. in Papillion, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with the birth of three children. While her children were young, she devoted her time to her family as a loving wife and mother. In later years, she was employed as a toll keeper at the Plattsmouth Toll Bridge. On March 8, 2010, she was united in marriage to William Messick in Plattsmouth.

Excelling in cooking, she enjoyed preparing meals for her family and guests. Spare time was utilized in various crafts and sewing. Her leisure time found her enjoying movies that included: Dennis the Menace, The Little Giants, and The Little Rascals as well as other family oriented films. Comedies such as Two and a Half Men were the kinds of TV series she enjoyed. Other interests included watching KARAOKE and she would, on occasion, be found dancing to the music. Her entire life evolved about her concern for her family, and caring about others. Even when she became ill, she never complained about her health, and always told her family to take care of themselves. She enjoyed children and received much happiness giving them food that they could smear on their faces. She was fond of her dogs, Dasie, her dog that preceded her in death, and Cosmo, her current pet. Cookie Tuesday was a special day in recent months as she would always receive a cookie with her Meals on Wheels.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, "Marty" - George the III; two brothers, Charles and Dalton. Survivors include her husband, William; her daughter, Janelle; two sons: Marty, and Jason and his wife, Robin; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Adlyn and her husband, Maynard; and Betty; one brother, Edwin and his wife, Carol; and sister-in-law, Donna; other relatives and many friends.
