He was born May 23, 1896, in Gray, Iowa, son of Juergen and Marie (Schluntz) Schroeder.
In the 1930s, he worked at the Sparks Tribune.
In 1951, he moved to Hawthorne, Nevada, where he was employed at the Ammunition Depot. Following retirement from the depot, he was employed as a salesman for the Thomas D. Murphy Company.
Surviving are his widow, Thelma, of Hawthorne; son, Phillip, and daughter, Shelia Sepsey,
both of Sacramento; step-son, Roy Smales, of San Diego, California; and nine grandchildren.
