MRS. BERTHA WEGNER
Mrs. Bertha Wegner, 82, of Manning died April 4 at Eventide Home for the Aged in Denison, where she had resided since 1965.

Rites were held at 11 a.m. Monday in Zion Lutheran Church, Manning, of which she was a member. Pastor Edward F. Heinicke officiated. Interment was in the Manning Cemetery, under direction of the Ohde Funeral Home.

A daughter of Jacob and Amelia (Kruse) Kuhl, she was born October 3, 1885, in Iowa Township, Crawford County. She attended rural school. Her marriage to George E. Wegner, Sr. took place June 20, 1905, and they farmed until retiring and moving into Manning in 1947. Following his death on May 12, 1953, Mrs. Wegner continued to live here until entering the Eventide Home.

Surviving are two sons, Carl of Seattle, Washington, and George, Manning; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Antonia Wiese, resident of Eventide Home.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Wegner was preceded in death by a son, Edwin; a brother, John; and a sister, Alma.
