Services Held At Manning
For Mrs. Bertha Vehrs
Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Vehrs, 83, were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Rev. J.A. Lippincott of the Manning Methodist Church was in charge and burial was in the Manning cemetery.
Mrs. Vehrs died Wednesday, Jan. 23 at her home, of a heart ailment.
Born April 29, 1874 in Clinton County, Iowa she was married to Gustave Vehrs of Manning in 1895. The couple had 13 children. They farmed until 1936, when they retired and moved to Manning. Mr. Vehrs died in 1940.
Survivors include five children: Mrs. Margaret Wegner, Manning; Mrs. Verna Ziccardi, Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. Henry Jensen, Gray: Mrs. Louie Miller, Denison; and Harold Vehrs, Manning; 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harvey Opperman, Virgil, S. D., and Albert Opperman, Le Suer, Minn.
Mrs. Anna Farley, Mrs. Wm. Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Behrend, Ted and Lyle Vollstedt and Mrs. Dean Ellison and daughter Karla of Logan, attended the services.
Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery, with grandsons as pallbearers.
