Mrs. George Tank Was Laid to Rest Here

But a few weeks ago, Mr. and Mrs. George Tank came from California to visit with friends and relatives in this community. Being in good health and visiting with their many friends in this and other communities for about two months, they left much refreshed by spending their vacation in Iowa, for their home and reached there safe and sound. On Monday, October 1st, the news spread that Mrs. Tank had passed away in her home in California. The news was received with the deepest sorrow and regret, and her passing is a severe shock to those who recently visited with her and enjoyed her company.

Bertha Brown was born December 26, 1853, in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, and died at her home in Long Beach, California, October 1, 1928, at the age of 74 years 9 months and 5 days. She grew to womanhood in her Sheboygan home in Wisconsin. In 1890 she was called to Westside to care for the family of her brother whose wife and mother of his children had passed away. In 1893 she was united in marriage to Mr. George Tank of Manning. In 1913 Mr. and Mrs. Tank moved to Long Beach, California, where they have made their home since.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband Mr. Tank, a stepson, Julius Tank, whom she had cared for and mothered with all the care possible since he was 11 years old. Two brothers, Frank Brown of Westside and Fred Brown of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, also two sisters, Mrs. Kuents and Mrs. Breher of Sheboygan.

Mrs. Tank's life has been filled with helpful work for others, she was a devoted wife and helpmate to her husband, and a kind and cheerful neighbor, and leaves a host of friends in California and in this community who will &pays remember the kind and cheerful friend in respect and devotion.

Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church at 2:00 p. m. Tuesday, October 9, and conducted by the Reverend Howland. Kind hands laid the remains on their last resting place in the Manning cemetery. May she rest in peace.
