MRS. JACOB ROHDE, FORMER MANNING RESIDENT PASSES AWAY AT HER HOME IN CALIFORNIA.

Mrs. Bertha Rohde nee Kohrs was born at Buxtehude, Province Hanover, Germany, on March 5th, 1846. On March 14, 1876, she was united in marriage to Mr. Joachim Wohlers and in 1881, the family emigrated to America, and located at Lyons, Iowa, where Mr. Wohlers the father and supporter was taken from his family by death in the year of 1891.

In the year of 1893, the mother with her children came westward to Manning, Iowa, where the children found employment. Her son, Rudolph, being employed as manager of the Joyce Lumber Company, and Walter following the carpenter trade. Residing here until 1914.

In April 1898, the deceased was married to Mr. Jacob Rohde residing near Manilla on a farm, where they remained for two years them coming back to Manning and residing on east Third Street, where Mr. Rohde died in 1913.

In 1914, she moved with her children to Scobey, Montana, where she resided until July 1923, when she moved to Santa Ana, California, where she resided until the time of her death on January 13th, 1925, attaining the age of 78 years, 10 months, and 8 days. Her death came unexpectedly after the short illness of five, days suffering from pneumonia. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. George Bohn of Santa Ara, and one son, Walter J. Wohlers of Santa Ana, one step-daughter, Mrs. P.H. Dethlefs of Iowa City, Iowa. Grandchildren W.J. Wohlers, Jr, and Paul Gerhard Wohlers of Santa Ana, California. Rudolph, Robert, and Edwin Dethlefs and Elsa (Dethlefs) Witham of Iowa City and Irma (Wohlers) Klahn. Her son, Rudolph, preceding her in death a few years ago in Montana.

Funeral services were held from the Trinity Lutheran Church of Santa Ana, the Reverend William Schmook officiating. Interment was made at the Fairhaven Cemetery at Santa Ana. The bereaved family has our sympathy.

The family then moved to Manning, Iowa, in 1893 where deceased was married to Mr. Jacob Rohde in 1898 and resided at Manilla, Iowa, for two years, then returning to Manning where Mr. Rohde died in November 1913.

Wohlers, both of Santa Anna, and a step-daughter, Mrs. Augusta Dethlefs, Iowa, City, Iowa, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Trinity Lutheran church, Rev. William Schmoock, officiating, with interment at Fairview Cemetery at Santa Anna.
