Funeral services were held for Mrs. Bertha Mundt on Tuesday, May 16, 1978, at 2 p.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Pastor Edward F. Heinicke of the Zion Lutheran Church of Manning officiated. Interment was in the Manning Cemetery with Robert Hagedorn, Roger Hagedorn, Raymond Hagedorn, Larry Hagedorn, Dennis Grimm and Duane Otto as casketbearers. Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.
Bertha, daughter of John and Johanna Sievertsen Joachimsen, was born July 3, 1888 in Hayes Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She attended the rural schools near her home and was united in marriage with Louis Hagedorn on February 9, 1910. They farmed near Manning and this marriage was blessed with six children. Louis died on January 1, 1922. Following the death of her husband, Bertha continued to live on the farm and raised her family. She was united in marriage with John Mundt on December 22, 1959. They lived in Manning where John died on January 26, 1964.
Bertha has been in failing health for many years and entered the Manning Plaza about twelve years ago where she passed away on Saturday evening, May 13, 1978, at the age of 89 years, 10 months, and 10 days. Bertha was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Manning, Iowa.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, by one son, Alvin, 1 stepson, Leroy Mundt, five sisters and 2 brothers.
She is survived by two sons, Lorn Hagedorn and Lewis Hagedorn, both of Manning, and by 3 daughters, Elberta, Mrs. Ernest Grimm of Manning, Delores, Mrs. Louie Otto, and Myrtle, Mrs. Elmer Otto, both of rural Manilla; also by one stepdaughter, Mrs. Edna Goundie of Childress, Texas, and one stepson, Henry Mundt of Manning; by 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and by one sister, Mrs. Clara Lohrmann, Eventide Home, Denison, as well as by many other relatives and friends.
