Funeral services for Benjamin Isaac Salinger, Jr, Chicago attorney will be at 3:30 pm Sunday at the home of his mother Mrs. B.I. Salinger 726 N Main Street. Burial will be in the family lot in the Carroll Cemetery.
Mr. Salinger's death at the age of 64 occurred at his apartment in Chicago Wednesday night, October 15, 1947, following a heart attack. He had been in ill health over a period of years.
A son of Benjamin I. and Lucy M. (Boylan) Salinger, he was born August 31, 1883, in Manning. His father, who was a Justice of the Supreme Court of Iowa from 1915 to 1921, died in July 1931. The family moved from Manning to Carroll in 1897. After Mr. Salinger attended Carroll high school, he studied at the State University of Iowa, Iowa City. He had practiced law in the states of South Dakota, Iowa, and Illinois. At the time of his death he had law offices in Chicago.
Previously, he had been connected with the claim department of the Chicago, Milwaukee & St Paul Railroad for several years. Prominent in Knights of Pythias lodge work, Mr. Salinger had at one time served as the organizations Supreme Chancellor.
Surviving with his mother is his sister, Mrs. J.P. Minchen (Daisy) of Carroll. His twin brother, Louis H., Carroll attorney died in July 1936.
Burial was in City Cemetery, Carroll, Iowa.
