Mr. Meisel, who had lived in Manning more than fifty years, would have been seventy-two years old in March. He was born in Bureau County, near Arlington, Illinois, March 4, 1871.
A machinist by trade, Mr. Meisel had been in the implement business here. At the time he was taken ill he was in the employ of the Ford Garage, where he had worked for more than twenty years.
Surviving are his wife and the following children: LeRoy, Swan, Iowa; Clyde, Manning, Iowa; Mrs. Myrtle East, Indianola, Iowa; John, Denison, Iowa; Mrs. Hugo Ress (Ola), Manning, Iowa; Mrs. Lillian Watts, San Francisco, California; and Mrs. L.P. Maschmeyer (Gretchen), Encino, California.
He also leaves one brother, Henry Meisel, of Brunswick, Nebraska; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Hoeschite and Mrs. Hannah Hoeschite, and Mrs. Augusta Hufford, all living in Nebraska. He was one of a family of nine children.
Other survivors include eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was an uncle of John Backes and Mrs. Bertha Rose of Carroll and Mrs. Anton Truhe of Glidden.
Mr. Meisel belonged to the Lutheran Church.
