Austin Navin
Austin Patrick Navin was born in County Mayo, Ireland, on May 6, 1850, and died at his home in Manning, December 26, 1928, aged 78 years, 7 months, and 20 days.

In 1852, he came with his parents, Thomas and Mary (Mahon) Navin, from Ireland to Toronto, Canada. In 1853, he with his parents moved, to Ottumwa, Iowa, and after living there two years they settled near Georgetown, Iowa, where he lived until manhood.

He was united in marriage to Mary McGee at Melrose, Iowa, on January 3, 1892, and on July 5, 1892, they came to Manning. To this union was born six children, one having died in infancy.

Requiem high mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Pick of Templeton at the Sacred Heart Church December 29, and interment was made in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Those left to mourn his death are his beloved wife; his children, Mrs. Ed Riley of Walthill, Nebraska; Thomas and Leo, of Sioux City; Austin of Fort Madison; and Helen of Manning; eight grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Thomas O'Har, John Navin, and Mrs. Ed McGee and son, James, of Melrose, Iowa, attended the funeral of Austin Navin, Sr., last Saturday.
