In the year 1875 she moved with her husband to Carroll county, settling on a farm three miles north of Manning, where she resided until 1888, when they removed to Manning which became her home until released by death.

She was the mother of 16 children. Four children died in infancy, and Adolph died in 1903, and Ella in 1917. Those who survive are a husband, ten children and fourteen grandchildren. The children are as follows: Albert and Ferdinand, Augusta, Frieda, and Mrs. Arthur Jordan of Manning, Mrs. Henry Harden of Gilbertsville, Ia., Emma and Erna of Des Moines: Robert with the American Army at Honolulu, Hawaii, and August with the American Expeditionary Forces in France.

She was confirmed in the Lutheran Church before her departure to the United States.

Her health was on the decline since last August, she having contracted diabetes with the complication of gangrene, from which she failed to get relief, and passed away Oct. 15, 1918, aged 62 years 2 months and days.

The funeral was held Friday afternoon at the home and was attended by many of the neighbors and friends. Rev. Aller conducted the services and paid high tribute to the memory of the departing wife, mother and neighbor. Following the services the remains were taken to the family lot for burial.

Those who sorrow can be comforted in the thought that their relative and friend was a true and loving wife and mother, and ever ready to help and do her part toward making this world better by having lived in it. While her body is here on earth her soul is above where there is neither sorrow and suffering, and is awaiting the time when she will be reunited with her beloved family.
