Pioneer Resident, Mrs. Pruter, Dead

Funeral services for Mrs. F.W. Pruter, one of Manning's oldest residents, were held on Friday afternoon at 2 at the Ohde Funeral Home, with Dr. F.E. Hamlin of the Manning Presbyterian Church, officiating.

The Church Quartette, Mrs. Nick C. Schrum, Mrs. Albert Dietz, Ray Pratt, and Arthur Rix, sang, accompanied by Mrs. Henry W. Hagedorn.

Burial was in the Manning Cemetery. Pallbearers were Herman Anthony, Henry Ohrt, Albert Stoelk, Herman Dammann, Henry Anthony, and Herbert Sander.

Augusta Wilhelmena Kruse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kruse, was born on September 1, 1864, in Stakendorf, Germany. She was educated there and baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

At the age of 18, she came to America, and made her home with and uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kruse, near Manning.

On October 13, 1886, she was married to Frank Pruter at Denison.

The couple had five children. They established a home on a farm in Hayes Township, and remained there until the spring of 1921, when they purchased a home in Manning.

Mrs. Pruter died on December 15, 1954, at the Pfoltner Nursing Home, following several weeks of illness. She had been in failing health for some time.

She is survived by her husband, three children: Julius Pruter of Westside; Frank Pruter of Oakland, California; Mrs. Walter Miller of Manning; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Steffen, Payette, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two children: Gustav Pruter and Mrs. Ed Molter; one grandchild and three sisters and one brother.

Relatives from a distance attending funeral services were a son, Frank F. Pruter of Oakland, California; grandsons, Frank O. Pruter of Whittier, California; and Herbert Molter of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; granddaughter, Mrs. Edmund Erps and Linda of Chicago, Illinois.
