August Schumann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Schumann died at the home of his mother, Mrs. Schumann, living near the Five Mile House. He died September 8, 1913, and was buried Wednesday afternoon, at the Hayes Township Cemetery. He was the youngest of twelve sisters and brothers and was 26 years and 13 days at the time of his death. He was unmarried. The funeral was one of the largest ever held in this vicinity, many relatives and friends coming from the surrounding towns to pay their last sad respects to their departed friend. Rev. Fauth of Westside, Iowa, conducted the services which were held at the home.
The deceased died from the effects of an attack of typho-malaria and though everything possible was done passed quietly away to meet his Maker.
Those who knew the young man say he was a most excellent friend and companion, that he had those qualities of manhood so admired by his friends.
The Monitor joins with the friends in extending sympathies to the sorrowing mother, sisters and brothers.
