August F. Schroeder, son of Henry and Anna Schroeder, was born on January 19, 1888, in Hayes Township, Crawford County, Iowa. He grew to manhood in Iowa, and in 1910 he came to Moody County, South Dakota. After working here one year, he returned to Iowa and on March 8, 1911, he was united in marriage to Emma Schrum at Denison, Iowa. Following their marriage, they came to Moody County and for the past 51 years have farmed three and one-half miles south of Flandreau.

SURVIVORS
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, LaVerna, Mrs. Ralph Felker, Provo, Utah, and DeElla, Mrs. Ted Magness, Les Angeles, California; two sons, Roy F. of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Arlo, Egan; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Augusta Vinke and Mrs. Herman Jahn, Manning, Iowa, and Mrs. Irving Stombaugh, Egan; and two brothers, Herman of Flandreau and Johannes of Manning, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, and three brothers.
