Mr. Woodruff was born February 24, 1894, in Kent County, England, and in 1914 he came to Canada. He lived there six months and then moved to Kendall, North Dakota, where he lived a number of years. He traveled around the United States until 1955, when he came to Manning.

He was employed by the city until 1964, when he was forced to retire because of ill health. He died Monday morning, January 22, 1968, at the Brown Nursing Home in Coon Rapids.

His parents were Charles Steven and Elizabeth (Brown) Woodruff. He was one of 11 children, but he has no known survivors living in the United States.
